I started my career working for my father, Carl Pedersen. He built boats of all kinds, from sailing yachts to commercial fishing to historic craft built on location in Jamestown. After his passing in 86, I continued in the boating industry for about 10 years doing yacht restoration, commercial repair and refitting.

I left the boating industry for many reasons, mostly because I liked doing carpentry work more than fiberglass. I found building staircases and doing interior trim on upper end homes to be very satisfying. It was here that I first started doing built-in cabinetry. During my first few years in the industry I took on many different jobs to acquire a good overall knowledge. I spent several years working with a master builder and remodeler doing everything from laying block to building tile shower enclosures.

In late 2008 I rented some shop space and started building custom cabinets and other custom interior parts such as closet shelving and stair rail parts. At this time I also did some yacht work and anything else that could keep me busy. In 2014 I started working with Curtis Peters of The Woodworking Shop in Newport News.  I found that by doing just the design and installation and not having the overhead of the shop when I wasn’t using it was best for me. Curtis builds strictly to my plans and specifications and I’m proud to say that you can’t tell the difference.
